Things to consider

Law and grace, which side are you on?

I live at and volunteer a lot of my spare time to a Teen Challenge drug rehab centre. When some people learn this they say, ‘I bet you have learnt a lot about grace’. The strange thing is I have learnt a lot more about the importance of law.

Worship, music and the modern church

All our singing and CDs have not deterred us from becoming like the world around us. Never before has the western church had more music and never before has it been more depraved in its behaviour. ‘Worship’ is now a style of music instead of being a style of life.

The ugly truth

God has been gracious. His blessings astound me, and that’s only the ones I’m aware of. There is so much to be thankful for: everything from great family and friends to meaning in life. But the most gracious thing God has done was show me the ugly truth about myself. By this I mean He showed me what a sick, depraved sinner I am. And for this precious truth I will ever be grateful. Nothing has ever had such sweet rewards…

Who is god?

Our ability to choose is not the problem; the problem is whom we have chosen to obey. No wonder the world is full of evil, murder, rape, terrorism, genocide, pain and suffering. With so many people making themselves god I’m surprised things aren’t far worse…

Truth that offends

Jesus Christ was a trouble maker. He was divisive. He split families, towns, nations, even our timeline (BC/AD). Jesus deliberately offended people. Weakness, your greatest strength

The pain of the cross

Deep inside we all know there is something special about Jesus’ suffering, something that separates Him from every martyr in history. What makes Him so unique? The answer is in one line Jesus said from the cross…

The key to conversion

The revealed word of the Lord or ‘revelation’ is of premier importance. Without it we cannot truly know God, follow God, understand God or love God. Revelation is more than information or knowledge…

What’s it worth to you?

Will our faith make the journey if we treat it as something we don’t value and refuse to work out? I’m not saying we can earn salvation, but whether we like it or not, God has placed on us some responsibility…

Why can’t I be a 5-point Calvinist?

The dichotomy of sovereignty and free-will and its effect on the way we view salvation is something all thinking Christians will encounter. This topic should neither be avoided, nor pushed aside as unimportant…

You’re biased

The dictionary describes ‘bias’ as, ‘A mental tendency, preference, or prejudice’. Facts are not mentioned. I would say people are more persuaded to stick with their bias than to accept or believe facts…
